I am a mother of two collegiate athletes. My oldest daughter verbally committed to Georgetown at 15, Georgetown's youngest softball verbal commit at that time. My middle daughter verbally committed to Rutgers at 14 years old, before going into the 9th grade. She is the youngest softball commit to play at Rutgers.
My middle daughter at 12 had the head coaches of UCLA, Tennesse, Oklahoma, Univ of Washington (to name a few) at their practices and games. I understand the mental pressure, expectations, coach and team dynamics along with the transition to collegiate athletics that high level athletes experience.
In 2014 my two girls won the PGF National Championship in 14U and 18U, the most competitive of softball National Championship Tournaments.
Hindsight and Experience are a beautiful thing!
Mental training is what will set you apart.
Looking back at the mental hardship my girls endured and how incredibly strong they were through all of it. My biggest regret is not providing the balance of mental training.
